What does Film Mayo do?
Film Mayo aims to promote filming in Mayo. Our extensive knowledge of Mayo and efficient, professional, free and confidential advice should help save you time and money. Film Mayo is managed by Mayo County Council Arts Service.
Can Film Mayo give funding towards my production?
While we do not have specific funding streams available for production or development, we can point you in the right direction so please see our funding section for further suggestions.
Mayo County Council Arts Servcie provides support to professional artists, including filmmakers through the Mayo Artists Bursary and Tyrone Guthrie Bursary, as well as one-off supports. Further information about these supports is available at Funding and Opportunities – Mayo Arts Service
How can Film Mayo help me?
We offer free and confidential advice, we are well networked and can point you in the right direction. We know Mayo and we know film. We would welcome your production in Mayo and are here to help. In Mayo you will find a “can do” attitude, where things happen dynamically. If we don’t know the right person to help you with your requirements we will put you in touch with someone who does.
Why should I shoot my production in Mayo?
We love Mayo and think that you will too. You can’t beat the friendliness of Mayo people. Mayo has a natural beauty, stunning locations and plenty of amenities. It has huge areas of unspoilt landscape and a wide variety of potential locations. Plus Film Mayo is here to answer any queries you may have.
Do I need a permit to shoot in Mayo?
While a permit is not required by Mayo County Council, you do need permission for to film in locations under our remit.
For privately owned locations, you will need to engage with the owner.
For permission to shoot in Coillte Forests please contact Coillte Head office + 353(0)1-2011111. You can ask to speak to the Forest Manager in relation to the wood you are interested in using as a location. Coillte require a licence, your companies public liability insurance and a letter of indemnity to Coillte from your insurers. Allow at least a four day turn around.
Please get in touch with us to discuss your proposed locations and we will support you with this process, where possible.

How do I get listed on Cast & Crew?
If you would like to add your details to the database, please complete this Cast & Crew form. This is a free listing.
Film Mayo require you to have three screen credits in your chosen category to join the Cast & Crew database i.e. the category you are l;isted under should be the same as your three screen credits.
Film Mayo also provide an Emerging Talent/Trainee section if you currently don’t have three screen credits in your chosen category.
