Welcome to Film Mayo.  This website is operated by Mayo County Council Arts Servcie. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.

  1. Purpose of the Website

The Website is designed to promote Mayo as a filming destination, provide information regarding filming permissions, list potential filming locations, and connect production companies with local services.

  1. Intellectual Property Rights
  • Council Content: All text, graphics, logos, photographs, location database entries, and website design are the property of Mayo County Council or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without express permission.
  • User-Generated Content: If you submit location images or production data, you grant Mayo County Council a royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, and display that content for promotional purposes.
  • Location Listings: Information in the location database is for reference only. It does not imply availability or provide permission to film.
  1. Filming Permissions
  • No Automatic Right to Film: Listing a location on this site does not constitute permission to film there.
  • Permission Requirement: All commercial filming in public places requires formal permission from Mayo County Council.
  • Private Property: Filming on private property requires the express permission of the owner.
  • Permission Process: All film productions should allow enough time to carry out the above steps start of filming.
  1. Obligations of Film Projects / Production Companies

Users agree to:

  • Insurance: Provide evidence of public liability insurance (minimum €6.5 million indemnity) and employer's liability (minimum €13 million indemnity), naming Mayo County Council as an indemnified party. Overseas production companies must confirm that that insurance policy cover is valid in Ireland and that the Territorial & Jurisdiction limits on the policy are the same when overseas.  If documentation is in a language other than English, an English translation of the documents must be provided.
  • Safety: A risk assessment must be carried out in relation to your shoot. Comply with all local Health and Safety legislation.
  • Drone Usage: If you are using a drone, please supply relevant permits and operator’s licence.
  • Community Sensitivity: Treat residents and businesses with courtesy. Noise, obstruction, and traffic disruption must be kept to a minimum.
  • Notification: Notify affected residents/businesses in advance of filming.
  1. Disclaimer of Liability
  • Mayo County Council makes no warranties regarding the accuracy of information provided by third parties (e.g., location owners, local crew lists).
  • Mayo County Council is not liable for any losses, damages, or costs incurred by a production company as a result of using the Website or filming in the area.
  1. Termination of Access

Mayo County Council reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the website or revoke filming permissions immediately if you breach these Terms or conduct illegal activities.

  1. Changes to Terms

Mayo County Council may update these terms at any time. Your continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

  1. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
