Cong Woods

Located outside the village of Cong these woods combine scenic walks, historic buildings with forest and water.  The property features native Irish trees over 140 years old as well as caves and stone viaducts and offers roads, gravel trails suitable for walking, running or cycling in a mixed woodland with riverbank, lakeshore and a stream. 

Each season offers a different charm, Spring is a great time to see the wildflowers and the new growth with vibrant greens, an enchanting site, Summer is perfect for lake activities while Autumn brings the changing colours of the leaves and winter offers frosty mornings.

With exotic plant species, limestone landscapes and dazzling river channels as well as historic sites Cong Woods showcases the lush scenery and diverse woodland next to Ashford Castle and Cong Village where the ‘Quiet Man’ was filmed.

Permission to shoot in Coillte Forests – Coillte Head office – + 353(0)1-2011111.  You can ask to speak to the Forest Manager in relation to the wood you are interested using as a location.  Coillte require a licence, your companies public liability insurance and a letter of indemnity to Coillte from your insurers.  Allow at least a four day turn around.
