Mulranny

Located 28km north of Westport, Mulranny is a seaside village on an isthmus between Clew Bay and Blacksod Bay.  A hidden treasure of spectacular landscapes and outdoor adventures, it is home of colourful giant fuchsias and several exotic plants.

The seashore in Mulranny is fringed by Mediterranean heath, a plant that in Ireland is restricted to county Mayo. The adjacent Mulranny woodland boasts a kaleidoscope of trees including birch, hawthorn, rowan, hazel, sycamore, holly, oak and ash.  “Trá Buí” (Yellow Beach) is a long beach offering perfect sunsets behind Clare Island and the mountains and offers panoramic views of mountains and sea, and serves as a gateway to Achill Island, with access to the Great Western Greenway for walking/cycling.  www.mulranny.ie
