Nephin Mountain

Located on the western seaboard of northwest Mayo, Nephin Mountain range forms the Wild Nephin National Park covering a vast 15,000 hectares of uninhabited and unspoilt wilderness which is dominated by the mountain range.

To the west of the mountains is Owenduff Bog, one of the last intact active blanket bog systems in Western Europe.  The mountain range forms a rugged, glacially sculpted wilderness known for its remoteness, diverse habitats (bogs, mountains, lakes), and iconic peaks including Nephin (806m) a conical shaped mountain overlooking Lough Conn and Nephin Beg (627m).

The area features U-shaped valleys and corries with quartzite and schist bedrock offering hiking trails through untouched landscapes and exceptional dark skies.
